Close to 100 volunters filled the Education Centre April 19th at Northumberland Hills Hospital's annual National volunteer Week event celebration!
Thanks to a new Arts Council of Northumberland initiative, watercolors, acrylics and photographs are among the different art forms now on display along Sumac Street, on the main floor of Northumberland Hills Hospital.
NHH published its second annual Quality Improvement Plan on April 1st, 2012, together with a progress report against the initial, 2011-12 plan.
Benefits directly related to the April 2010 integration with Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences were the focus of a presentation delivered to the December meeting of the Northumberland Hills Hospital Board of Directors by Scott Pepin, Director of NHH's Community Mental Health Services. The NHH Board and management engaged Ontario Shores in June 2008 to conduct an operational review of hte mental health programs at NHH, explained Mr. Pepin. What resulted was a comprehensive three-month review including a local service analysis and operational recommendations to enhance the program by increasing linkages with Ontario Shores, the regional mental health centre in Whitby.
Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation Board Chair Ann Logan and Northumberland Hills Hospital Board Chair John Hudson are pleased to announce that Rhonda Cunningham, Executive Director of the NHH Foundation, has achieved the highest level of designation within her professional association, the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP).
Seven (7) confirmed cases of Vancomycin Resistant Enterococcus (VRE) have been identified on two medical units (2A and 2B) at Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH). The patients affected are not sick from the bacteria and are carriers only. While not required to publicly report cases of non-symptomatic or dormant VRE, NHH has chosen to bring the outbreak to the public's attention in an effort to reiterate the importance of hand hygiene now and at all times in the hospital environment and community.
